Ok, to preface the story, I have to explain that Haddie has been given piles of stuffed animals since even before she was born. Out of all them, she became most attached to a pink “prayer bear” from Nana. This bear has his hands sewed together, eyes closed, and stocking cap on. She insists on sleeping with it and for a while was taking it with her everywhere.
When I went to put her to bed for naptime this morning, I found that bear’s hands had come unsewn. I showed it to her and tried to give her a hug w/ his now free hands, but she totally freaked. She got the most awful look on her face, and you would have thought the world was ending by the way she started crying and yelling! She kept saying “mommy fix, mommy fix.” So, we calmed her down (after Seth got out his phone and recorded her…of course), I got out my sewing kit and fixed poor bear. Funny how she didn’t seem upset to see a sharp needle being stabbed through his bear hands. So, he is officially back to praying and Haddie is officially back to hugging him (since he can’t hug her back anymore). Disaster has been averted…at least for now.
