Yes, you may be surprised about cooking a cake in a slow cooker. I was curious, so I tried it out for my high school D-Group. It smelled so yummy while it was cooking! I was tempted to take a few bites…but then I remembered the egg recall…
It didn’t take the whole 6-7 hrs to cook. It smelled like it was starting burn about 1.5-2 hrs early, so I turned it on warm the rest of the time. It probably would have been better stopping it at least 1/2 hr earlier than that, too. So…I’d say to check it around 3.5 to 4 hrs on LOW.

Chocolate Pudding Cake
1 pkg chocolate cake mix
1 pkg (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
2 C (16 oz) sour cream
1 C water
3/4 C vegetable oil
1 C (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
Whipped cream or ice cream
1. In mixing bowl, combine 1st 6 ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 min. Stir in chocolate chips.
2. Spray slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Pour cake mix into slow cooker, cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hrs or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out w/ moist crumbs.
3. Serve in bowls with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
